Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Foundation

Leicestershire County Cricket Club have a proud history in developing young cricketers and giving them the opportunity to flourish in the first team.

With that in mind, Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Foundation is in place to benefit our young players by providing funding for coaching in this country as well as playing and being coached at some of the best facilities abroad in the winter.

Formerly known as Leicestershire Young Cricketers Educational Trust (LYCET), the Leicestershire and Rutland Foundation also provides educational scholarships and monies raised helped to replace the indoor school surfaces to provide some of the best facilities for coaching at Grace Road.

Superb working relationships have been set up over the last few years with the North West Cricket Union based in Potchefstroom, South Africa, and the Darren Lehmann Academy in Adelaide, Australia while a number of fast bowlers have benefitted from working with Dennis Lillee in Chennai, India. It provides an excellent opportunity for young cricketers to be fast-tracked in their learning processes by playing cricket in a variety of conditions.

The David Wilson Foundation has supported the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Foundation very generously over the years.

Leicestershire CCC Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said: “We would like to thank David for the extremely kind and generous donations that we have received over the years. The money helps to provide invaluable experience for our young cricketers as they start out on their careers in the game.”

Young cricketers from the age of 10 are also benefiting from the Leicestershire and Rutland Foundation as a number of former Leicestershire CCC cricketers are helping in the delivery of the winter programmes.
