Aadil Ali is a highly talented young batsman who also bowls useful off-spin. The 22-year-old came through the age-group and Leicestershire Academy system before signing his first professional contract at the end of the 2014 season.
The year of 2015 was a big breakthrough for Aadil, who scored 412 runs at an average of 37.45 in the Specsavers County Championship.
His powers of concentration were impressive; Aadil faced 1,064 balls in 12 innings, including a gritty knock that proved to be an important part of the three-wicket win against Derbyshire.
The youngster also made a big impression in both white ball competitions. His score of 84 nearly helped to pull a victory out of the bag against a Gloucestershire side that went on to lift the Royal London One-Day Cup and his T20 Blast contributions were also useful.
Aadil proved himself to be a valuable part of the Leicestershire white ball side in 2017. Coming in for the injured Neil Dexter in the Royal London One Day Cup, Aadil hit back-to-back half-centuries against Worcestershire and Warwickshire both at the Fischer County Ground.
In the T20 Blast Aadil also showed his all-round skills as a cricketer, taking on the responsibility of bowling in the powerplay. Aadil bowled 12 overs and, with an economy of just 7.75, showed great control.
Aadil graduated from Leicestershire’s flourishing Academy in 2013 and went on to become an important player in the Second XI team who won the treble in 2014. The Leicester-born batsman has also made a big impact for Kibworth Cricket Club over the years. He signed a contract extension at the beginning of the 2017 campaign, extending his stay until the end of the 2019 season.
