Leicestershire CCC announced the signing of talented all-rounder Ateeq Javid on a two-year contract from Warwickshire at the start of September. Javid will join Leicestershire at the end of the 2017 season.
Javid, who came through the Warwickshire system like England internationals Ian Bell and Chris Woakes, made his England Under-19s debut aged just 17.
He scored 619 runs in Division One of the County Championship in 2013 at an average of 44.00, including two centuries, and has excelled in white ball cricket in recent seasons.
Javid helped Birmingham Bears to their NatWest T20 Blast title win in 2014; the dismissal of Kevin Pietersen with his first ball of the semi-final against Surrey was a key contribution.
The all-rounder, who bats in the middle order, has scored 2,117 runs and claimed 57 wickets across all three different formats of the professional game.
Thirty of those victims have been in NatWest T20 Blast at an economy rate of 7.3 runs per over, a format where he also has a strike rate approaching 120.
At the time of signing, Javid said: "I’m thrilled to be joining Leicestershire and thoroughly look forward to starting next season with the Foxes.
"I’ve had a great start to my career with Warwickshire and want to thank everyone who has helped my development over the years. However, the time is right to make a move, fight for a place and hopefully play regular cricket across all formats."
