Prolific Australian batsman Mark Cosgrove has been a superb signing for Leicestershire CCC after joining in March 2015. The left-hander scooped four awards at the end of the 2017 season including being named the club’s Cricketer of the Year.

Cosgrove had another bumper year for the Foxes in 2017, leading the charts in the Specsavers County Championship with 1,112 runs. He also recorded 277 runs in the Royal London One-Day Cup and 414 runs in the T20 Blast. Cosgrove’s fine season was noted at the End of Season Awards where he scooped four awards.

Cosgrove has been a consistent performer across all formats in his career, including amassing 13,839 first-class runs at 42.32 with 35 centuries and a career-best of 233.

The left-hander has also scored 4,320 List A runs at 32.00 and 2,540 T20 career runs at a strike rate above 120. Cosgrove made three ODI appearances for Australia where he posted a top score of 74.

This is Cosgrove’s second spell in county cricket after a successful time at Glamorgan. He spent three full seasons in Cardiff in 2006, 2009 and 2010 and returned as the club’s T20 overseas player in 2011.

Cosgrove scored 2,823 runs, including ten centuries, at an average of 52.27 in his 60 first-class innings for the Welsh County. He also scored 999 runs at 38.42 in List A cricket and 991 T20 runs at 27.91 for Glamorgan.
