Leicestershire CCC announced the permanent signing of experienced batsman Michael Carberry from Hampshire following a loan spell.

The former England opener initially signed on a month's loan ahead of the Specsavers County Championship game at Kent and then completed a two-year deal with the Foxes. 

Carberry has scored 13,658 runs at an impressive average of 41.48 in a 203-game first-class career, with 300 not out being his highest score. 

The opener has also shone in white ball cricket, scoring 4,659 List A runs at an average of 32.35 and 3,720 runs in T20 at 31.00 with a strike rate approaching 125. He has recorded 42 centuries across the three different forms of the game. 

Carberry has played six test matches for England, including the Ashes series of 2013-14. He has also represented his country in six ODIs and a T20I, and played for Hampshire against Notts Outlaws at T20 Blast Finals Day in 2017.
