Right arm paceman Richard Jones signed a permanent deal at the Fischer County Ground at the end of July 2016.

The 301year-old previously enjoyed two successful loan spells at the club while at Warwickshire, the first of which saw him claim 5 for 34 on his NatWest T20 Blast debut with a great spell of bowling at Lancashire Lightning in 2014.

Since returning to the FCG in 2016, Jones has again impressed with his ability to shape the ball at good pace, including two first innings wickets in an important Specsavers County Championship success at Gloucestershire.

Jones has claimed 162 career wickets in 58 first-class appearances at an average of 32.56 including a career best return of 7 for 115.

The seamer has also taken 14 wickets in white ball cricket with the best return coming at Lancashire on his Leicestershire bow.

Injury restricted Jones to just two first team appearances in 2017, both coming in the Specsavers County Championship. Jones also featured in the two day fixture against the West Indies where he dismissed Shai Hope, who had just scored back-to-back centuries against England in the Investec test match at Headingley.
