The slow bowler hails from Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and came through the youth system of the Huntingdonshire Cricket Board.

Sayer was part of the England under 19s squad on their 2013 tour to the United Arab Emirates. The team was part of a tri-nations tournament with the hosts and Pakistan, and Sayer produced a number of good performances as England reached the final.

Sayer played a part in Leicestershire’s Royal London One-Day Cup campaign, contributing a rapid 25 in the Foxes thrilling victory over Lancashire as well as delivering a number of tight spells.

In the Second XI Sayer also took 4-29 in the Championship fixture against the MCC Young Cricketers, as well as scoring 80 in the same game.
