Leicestershire CCC are proud of its links with the local community, forged through the excellent work of the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board.

This is demonstrated by the fact that the Club’s Chief Executive Officer David Smith is also Chairman of the Cricket Board, and he is determined to build on those links to ensure the future for Leicestershire cricket is bright.

The Club regularly has youngsters from local schools and clubs attending matches, and also supports clubs by providing a County professional as either a player or ambassador to those in the Everards Premier Division.

This has proved extremely successful over the years and the relationship works both ways, with clubs like Loughborough Town and Kibworth providing County with some extremely talented young cricketers.

Indeed, Josh Cobb, Greg Smith and Sundeep Patel have all come through the ranks at Kibworth, with James Taylor, Sam Cliff and Nathan Buck coming from the Loughborough production line.

Leicestershire is keen to extend those links, and if you would like any content or images to appear on our pages, please email your attached files to enquiries@leicestershireccc.co.uk

The Club also provides fantastic learning facilities for our local community in the form of the GREAT centre, situated in the Meet at Grace Road.

Funded by the DfES and Leicestershire County Council, the centre is part of the Playing for Success initiative that uses the world of sport as a platform for learning.

GREAT uses the game of cricket to motivate city and county children to improve skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT. It also helps them to improve their self esteem and confidence.

Managed by Heather Rawling, the centre has received national recognition for the quality of Study Support it delivers, having achieved a Quality Standard equivalent to silver. We are now working towards achieving the gold standard.

GREAT delivers its Playing for Success Programme in term time between 3.30 pm and 7.30pm Mondays to Thursdays and the programme lasts for 10 weeks.

The children usually receive one cricket coaching session in this time. At the end of the programme, we have a Celebration Event where a player presents the children with certificates and prizes.

GREAT is looking for sponsors to help improve our ICT facility and to fund brochures and newsletters.

If you would like to know more about GREAT and Playing for Success, would like to volunteer or are able to help with sponsorship, please email admin@lcccstudy.com
