The former Leicestershire batsman now works at the Club as High Performance Coach and is in charge of overseeing the Emerging Players’ Programme and the player pathway through to the Academy.
Cobb made 122 first class appearances for Leicestershire in a career that spanned nine years from 1980 to 1989. During that time, he scored 4,388 runs in that form of cricket.
The 49-year-old has done an excellent job since moving into coaching and recently landed a prestigious national award from the Sky Sports ECB Coach Education Programme in a ceremony in the Long Room at Lord’s.
Cobb has been an important link between the Club and the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board in recent years and will play an important part in shaping Leicestershire’s future alongside Phil Whitticase and Lloyd Tennant.
His coaching skills have played a key role in the development of many young players, including son Josh, who established himself as a Leicestershire first-team player in 2008.
