Nadeem Malik was again a consistent performer in the LV=CC and CB40 until injury curtailed his 2011 season.
Malik produced a number of fine spells in the Championship and was unfortunate not to pick up more than the 29 first-class wickets he ended with.
His one-day form was also good and Malik’s figures of 3-37 against Northamptonshire were the best produced by any Foxes bowler.
Malik made his mark in 2010 after returning from an injury that ruled him out of the 2009 season. The away swing bowler played a key role in coming on first change after Matthew Hoggard and Nathan Buck had finished their opening bursts.
Malik took four-wicket hauls in all formats that year and bowled particularly well at former club Worcestershire. The bowler signed for Leicestershire from New Road in 2008 and immediately made an impact by snapping up eight wickets in the Championship opening win against Middlesex, including a career-best haul of 5-51.
It was the first of three five-fors for the Club that season and Malik picked up a new career-best of 6-46 against Essex at Chelmsford along the way.
The bowler took 42 Championship wickets in all – the most by any County bowler – and picked up the Frank S Smith bowling award. He also bowled well in the limited-overs games and picked up a four-for in the T20 against his old club Notts.
Malik’s maiden first-class wicket was that of run machine Graeme Hick. He toured India with England under-19s in 2000-01 and was also a member of England's squad for the 2002 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand.
His height and away movement generates problems for batsmen. Malik first caught the eye at Grace Road in 2005 when he took eight wickets for Worcestershire in a Championship game. One of those was Stuart Broad, who was making his first appearance at Grace Road.
