Paul Dixey is a young keeper-batsman who joined Leicestershire CCC for pre-season alongside Ned Eckersley in 2011.
After impressing in the Second XI with half-centuries against Northamptonshire and Warwickshire, Dixey gained an opportunity in the First XI following an injury to Tom New.
Dixey kept wicket on the final day against Derbyshire and took two catches on a surface that increasingly helped the spinners.
That performance led to a debut at Edgbaston in the CB40 and Dixey also played his first Leicestershire home game against Durham Dynamos in the same format a day later.
Dixey impressed in the Second XI throughout the season and his best innings came against Unicorns A. The required rate was above 10 at one stage but Dixey and Eckersley compiled superb half-centuries during an unbroken stand of 126.
The 'keeper will be remembered by Leicestershire supporters for a match-winning performance at Grace Road for his home county Kent on debut in a Pro40 game in 2009.
Dixey hit a quickfire 14 not out - including all of the 11 needed off the final over - as he guided Kent to victory by three wickets in front of the television cameras.
He has previously played for England under-19s as well as Durham University and the MCC. Dixey has also appeared for England at u15 and u16 level and will have learnt a lot from former England stumper Geraint Jones while at Canterbury.
Dixey has a first-class century under his belt and will now look to take his opportunity at Grace Road in the 2012 season.
