Shiv Thakor became the first Leicestershire-born player to make a century on first-class debut for the Club in scoring a brilliant 134 against Loughborough MCCU.
It was certainly a first game to remember for Thakor given he also entered the record books for being part of Leicestershire's highest first-class stand for the fourth wicket.
Thakor put on 330 with James Taylor, who made a brilliant 237, to beat the previous best made by Leicestershire favourites Ben Smith and Phil Simmons at Worksop in the Championship-winning year of 1998. It was an ideal start to his first team career at the age of just 17.
Thakor made his LV=CC and CB40 debut in 2011. As well as catching the eye with the bat, Thakor took 3-57 in an LV=CC game against Surrey, who went on to land promotion from LV=CC Division Two.
Thakor has shown great promise throughout his career. The batsman became the youngest centurion for Leicestershire in age-group cricket for the under 9 side against Surrey.
He also made the headlines with a stunning double century for Loughborough Grammar School against Nottingham High School in the David English/Bunbury under 13s National Schools Championship semi-final.
A classy unbeaten 50 at Lord’s for England under 15s in 2008 in the Banbury game was another impressive performance from Thakor, who has appeared for County at all youth levels and played for the second team around his schooling in 2009 and 2010.
The young batsman made an excellent score of 96 for the Seconds in their last game of the campaign at Essex and led the Leicestershire under 17 side to league and cup success in 2010. During that year, Thakor scored 219 for Uppingham School against Nottingham High School.
Thakor celebrated the start of 2011 by receiving an England under 19s tour call-up and the youngster played plenty of games in Sri Lanka. He was also in the England u19s summer squad against South Africa before picking up an injury.
