Wayne White quietly went about his business in 2011 and cemented his place in the Leicestershire side in all three forms of the game.

The all-rounder was fourth leading first-class run-scorer with 789 and the third leading wicket-taker with 38 victims.

White scored his FL t20 runs at the highest strike rate of any Foxes batsman who played ten innings or more. His SR was 157.97 and White’s average of 54.5 had him top of the chart.

His innings in the match-winning partnership with Abdul Razzaq at Lancashire Lightning demonstrated great maturity.

White, who is also one of the Foxes’ best fielders, was a virtual ever-present in the Leicestershire side, missing games only to rest in what was a demanding campaign.

His reward was a new two-year contract. White’s good work built on a fine 2010 season where he scored a maiden first-class against old team Derbyshire.

It was a fantastic innings and a real breakthrough moment for White, who achieved the feat in front of his family and friends on his old stamping ground.

White generally batted extremely well in the first half of the season before a broken finger heavily disrupted his rhythm. He also took picked up wickets in the first Championship game and took a six-for in a CB40 match against Notts.

In 2009, the all-rounder had an outstanding twenty20 campaign and demonstrated his capabilities with in other forms of the game. He scored 68 against Glamorgan in the Championship as part of a fine week.

White also posted his highest List A total of 46* against the same opposition and claimed a career-best 4-36 in the same game.

Earlier in his career, White resisted the temptation to chase a career in football to play cricket for Derbyshire. He had previously played for Derby County’s footballing youngsters and also at semi-professional level in goal for Long Eaton. White also played for Burton Albion, Gresley Rovers and Mickelover Sports.

Known as ‘Chalky’, White will continue to work hard on all aspects of the game and there is every chance that he will have another good season in 2012.
