Leicestershire County Cricket Club were delighted with last night’s crowd of 3,000 at Grace Road for the Friends Provident t20 opener against Derbyshire Falcons.
Gate receipts were up 52% on the corresponding fixture against Derbyshire last year and Chief Executive David Smith said he was pleased with all aspects of the evening, except obviously the result.
He said: "It was a balmy early summer evening which helped, along with half-term in Leicestershire and the Matthew Hoggard, Andrew McDonald and Brad Hodge box-office factor.
"Our catering and bars were very busy and we are all looking forward to our next home game on Friday, June 18 against Northamptonshire.
That game starts at 4.30pm and Leicestershire CCC will also be showing the England v Algeria World Cup game afterwards in the Charles Palmer Suite.
