Seconds draw at Kidderminster

Date: Friday 17 June 2011

Leicestershire Second XI’s spinners shone on the final day but it was not quite enough to force victory against Worcestershire.

Matthew Boyce (80) and James Ord (75) continued their good work as the team added a further 146 to their overnight score of 112-0 to leave Worcestershire requiring 347 from 69 overs.

The home side therefore needed just more than five an over and made a good start. However, Jigar Naik and James Sykes each took three wickets to give Leicestershire a chance of victory.

There was spin on offer but the Kidderminster pitch had played well throughout and Worcestershire dug in and closed on 220-6.

It was Leicestershire's first Championship draw this season and the team’s next assignment is a three-day friendly against Glamorgan at Lutterworth CC on Tuesday.
