Leicestershire Second XI suffered a 36-run Trophy defeat at the hands of Nottinghamshire yesterday.
The team bowled and fielded well to restrict their hosts to 202-9 at Nottinghamshire High School with Shiv Thakor claiming three wickets and Harry Gurney and Josh Cobb taking two apiece. There were also two run outs.
Scott Elstone was the Notts top-scorer with 80 and he continued to be a thorn in the side with an excellent performance in the field.
Elstone took four catches and conducted a run out as Leicestershire made 166. Ned Eckersley (56) and Paul Dixey (32) looked set to guide the team home but Sam Wood's 3-21 in the middle period proved decisive. Ben Phillips also took three wickets.
The two teams meet again in a three-day Championship match that starts today (Wednesday).
