If you had told Nathan Buck that he would claim Mark Ramprakash and VVS Laxman as his maiden Championship and List A wickets respectively, no doubt he would have been delighted!
That is exactly what happened as Buck made his breakthrough in ā09. He probed away impressively on a flat deck at The Oval to remove the master Ramprakash and also got Laxman out as part of a pacy opening spell in the Pro40 against Lancashire Lightning.
He bowled with great enthusiasm and quality during the month of August, where he carried out lots of hard work. Buck played in the back-to-back Championship games against Surrey and Glamorgan, where the team were in the field for long periods.
However, he kept coming back for more and impressed those who saw him. He bowled with excellent economy and could easily have claimed more wickets with a tad more fortune.
Buck also showed promise with the bat and made impressive scores above 20 in both Championship and Pro40. He is a more than capable lower-order batsman.
Another bowler from the Loughborough Town production line, Buck is a talented and highly-rated pace bowler by those in the know.
He was England under 19sā most successful paceman on the South Africa tour in early 2009, where he took nine wickets at 24.22 despite being the youngest bowler on show. Played in Bangladesh this time around before going to the World Cup in New Zealand in 2010.
Recently signed a new three-year deal to keep him at the Club until at least the end of the 2012 season.
