Angus Robson showed great patience, determination and skill to become the only Leicestershire batsman to record 1,000 first-class runs in the 2014 season.
Robson, who is brother of Middlesex opener Sam, earned his place in the first Championship game of the campaign and didn’t look back. The 22-year-old was a model of consistency and posted two first team centuries against India and Hampshire.
The opening batsman has a great technique but is also able to put anything loose away. As the season wore on, Robson grew in confidence and really started to dominate attacks, which was a fine sight to see. Robson also broke into the RL50 side.
Robson first caught the eye at Grace Road in 2012, where he scored two superb tons against Gloucestershire and Nottinghamshire for the Second XI. Robson's knock of 98 during a Trophy game at Northamptonshire was also a demonstration of his capabilities.
Robson continued to impress in the Seconds in 2013 and was given his first-class debut at Gloucestershire. The opener made a best score of 49 in the second innings at Bristol.
