Anthony Ireland joined Leicestershire ahead of the 2013 season after previously enjoying spells in county cricket with Gloucestershire and Middlesex. Ireland then signed a new deal to keep him at Grace Road until at least the end of the 2014 season.
The 29-year-old seamer is a Zimbabwe international who has enjoyed plenty of success in his career. Ireland has taken 38 wickets in 26 ODIs at an average of 29.34 and has also played in an international T20 match.
Ireland has taken 124 first-class wickets in his career at an average of 31.50. He has an impressive first-class best of 7-36 and has also claimed 42 career t20 wickets at 25.59.
The seamer made a massive impact in the FL t20 competition in 2013. The seamer finished as leading wicket-taker with 15 victims at 15.73 and his economy was just over seven. He picked up two four-wicket hauls that led to fine victories against Durham and Derbyshire.
Ireland was also a key part of the YB40 side, and it was a great shame that injuries restricted his appearances in first-class cricket. The bowler is a popular figure at Grace Road and his experience will again be invaluable to Leicestershire’s young seam attack.
