Atif Sheikh made a real impression at Grace Road during the 2014 season. The left arm paceman penned a two-year contract at Leicestershire in July 2014 after a string of impressive performances while on trial.

Sheikh bowled with pace and hostility against the touring India side, and made the headlines in the national newspapers as a result. Sheikh then claimed a hat-trick at Gloucestershire, becoming the first bowler since Matthew Hoggard to achieve the feat.

The 23-year-old had previously bowled well in the Second XI for a couple of seasons, and built on the India performance by taking 6-49 in the first innings of the recent Championship win against Worcestershire.

Sheikh made one first-class appearance for former county Derbyshire in 2010, taking five wickets in the game against Gloucestershire.
