Dan Redfern was in majestic form during pre-season but an unfortunate injury sustained in the field had a major effect on his summer .

The 24-year-old suffered a dislocated finger that ruled him out for a few weeks, and the form of other batsmen meant that Redfern had to bide his time when fit again.

A number of fine knocks in the Seconds led to him being selected for the First XI and Redfern made a few half-centuries along the way.

The skilful left-hander, who has represented England under 19s, registered a first-class career best score of 133 against Hampshire in Derbyshire’s promotion season of 2012.

During that successful year, Redfern scored 848 first-class runs at an average of 38.48, and is now approaching 4,000 career runs. Redfern is also a useful off-spin bowler, as he demonstrated for Leicestershire in 2014.
