Highly promising Leicestershire CCC off-spinner Rob Sayer has been awarded a summer contract until the end of the 2016 season. He suffered an injury during 2014 that restricted him to a handful of appearances in the first and second team, although he did play for Leicestershire against India and Leeds-Bradford MCCU.

Sayer, a 19-year-old who hails from Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, was part of the England under 19s squad on their 2013 tour to the United Arab Emirates. The team were part of a tri-nations tournament with the hosts and Pakistan, and Sayer produced a number of good performances as England reached the final.

During the 2013 season, Sayer took five-wicket hauls both in the Second XI Championship and in a Second XI Friendly, and also posted his first half-century. Sayer claimed 21 wickets in the longer form of the game. He came through the youth system of the Huntingdonshire Cricket Board.
