HD Ackerman and Wayne White both made good contributions with the bat to ensure Leicestershire ended with a respectable score on the second day of the first-class friendly with Loughborough UCCE.
Ackerman made 86 before being trapped lbw by Alasdair Evans, in an innings that included 14 expertly timed boundaries.
Triallist White also flourished at number seven, making 43 before being last man out as County made 183-9 declared.
Loughborough batted a number of overs before the close, with Paul Borrington and Philip Hayes batting through to end on 35-0.
The day was shortened at both ends, firstly due to rain and then due to bad light.
When play started, James Taylor was an early casualty. He nicked behind to give the impressive Henry Jones a fourth wicket of the innings.
Ackerman and White then shared a stand of 71, before County’s top-scorer fell to one that nipped back and kept a fraction low.
That triggered a mini collapse, as Evans claimed a second wicket by having Carl Crowe caught behind.
Nathan Buck was then trapped lbw by left-arm spinner Michael Baer, who ended the innings by having White stumped – a third victim of the innings for keeper David Murphy.
In reply, Harry Gurney and Nathan Buck both got good movement in their opening spells, but County could not force a breakthrough.
White bowled a solitary over before the gloom halted proceedings. Borrington ended the day on 19, with Hayes on 6.
