Notts Second XI 343 (du Toit 3-37) drew with Leics Second XI 205 (Roberts 49) and 140-7 (Patel 39)
Leicestershire Second XI drew with Nottinghamshire 2s as the hosts were heading for victory at Welbeck.
County were just two runs ahead with three second-innings wickets in hand, but rain fell on the third day to ensure a draw.
County made 205 in the first knock, and were 140-7 when bad light and rain halted proceedings for a second and final time in the day.
Notts had made 343 in their first innings, but were frustrated in their winning bid.
A wet outfield forced a 45-minute delay on the final day initially, and rain came again at 3.30pm to wash out the match.
On day one, the team were struggling at 99-6 at lunch against the pacemen Charlie Shreck, Mark Footitt and Andrew Carter.
Carter took 6-32, including five of the wickets to fall in the first session.
Alex Roberts made 49, while Burton and Tom New chipped in with 36 and 32 respectively.
Bilal Shafayat retired hurt early in Notts reply having taken two blows on the same hand, but Akhil Patel made 75 and Matthew Wood was 72 not out to take Notts to within 10 runs of County’s total by the close at 191-1.
On the second day, Wood went on to make 114 but the bowlers hit back to restrict the home side.
Jacques du Toit took three wickets, while Burton, Kieran Garside and slow left armer Jamie Sykes all claimed two victims. Roberts took the other wicket to fall.
Roberts fell early in the second knock, but former Kibworth teammates Sunny Patel and Josh Cobb shared 46 for the second wicket.
Patel battled for a three-hour 39 as County looked to save the game, while Cobb made 25 and du Toit 28.
Carter claimed two more wickets and Jason Brown also got two batsmen out as Leics struggled to 140-7, but the elements had the final say.
