Derbyshire 2nds 245 (Gurney 4-41) and 49-2 dec lost to Leics 13-0 dec and 282-2 (du Toit 112*, New 55)
Jacques du Toit’s unbeaten century ensured Leicestershire Seconds beat Derbyshire in a rain-affected match at Denby.
du Toit made 112 not out from 87 balls as the team chased down their target of 282 for the loss of two wickets. Tom New (55), Josh Cobb (34) and Sundeep Patel (27*) were also in the runs.
Earlier in the game, Derby made 245 in their first innings, with Harry Gurney the most successful bowler with 4-41.
Dan Masters also chipped in with 2-36, and County made 13-0 in their first innings before a whole day was lost to rain.
The team declared overnight, and Derby made 49-2 in their second knock before pulling out.
It was then du Toit – who took centre stage for the first team in Twenty20 at the Riverside on Friday – who excelled after openers New and Cobb set up the chase.
Patel played a key anchor role alongside him as the team got to their target in 50.1 overs.
