In the second-part of our interview with Harry Gurney, he speaks about the upcoming season.
The 2010 season promises to be an exciting and entertaining one – so why not secure your ticket to all of Leicestershire’s games with a membership deal?
With Matthew Hoggard, Andrew McDonald, James Benning and Will Jefferson all on board for the new campaign and James Taylor signing a new deal, the Club have shown their intentions and would love to have your support at all matches.
The main attraction is eight Friends Provident Twenty20 home games in 2010. Leicestershire CEO David Smith campaigned heavily to get these fixtures played on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons, and six matches will be played on these dates. So, there are some memorable days and nights in store for you at times you will be able to enjoy them.
Last year saw a couple of thrilling home performances against Notts Outlaws and Yorkshire Carnegie, and Grace Road has seen lots of great wins for the Foxes over the years.
We want to recreate the atmosphere that saw the ground become a real fortress as the team reached four successive Finals Days from 2003-06 - and you can play your part in that.
For just £70 as an adult or £30 as a child, you can secure your place to all eight home T20 matches in 2010 with a Twenty20 season ticket. A family ticket - for two adults and two children under the age of 18 - is also available for £160.
Alternatively, why not have the option of coming to all games by taking out a full membership? This includes every all eight Twenty20 group home games, every Championship game, all six ECB 40-over league group games and the tourist game against Pakistan.
The full membership costs £160 for an adult, £135 as a senior citizen, £100 for a student in full-time education and £40 for a Charlie Fox membership (under 16s).
There are 52 days of cricket at Grace Road throughout 2010, so that works out at great value at just over £3 a day for an adult, £2.60 for a Senior Citizen, under £2 for a student and under £1 for under 16s.
To go along with that, you can also gain free admission to Championship matches at Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire when Leicestershire are not the opposition. You will also receive a complimentary copy of the club's yearbook.
Our third option is to take out a membership which excludes Twenty20 games and allows you to watch Leicestershire in action in the Championship, ECB 40-over league group stages and tourist matches. It also permits entry to Notts and Northants and entitles you to a complimentary yearbook. This costs £100 for an adult, £75 for a senior citizen, £40 for a student and just £15 for under 16s.
By taking out a full membership, though, you save £10 for an adult (would cost £170 if you bought a membership and Twenty20 season ticket separately), £10 for a senior citizen (would cost £145 separately), £10 for a student (would cost £110 separately), and £5 for an under 16 (would cost £45 separately).
So, it is well worth buying both together as you make a saving as well as having a guaranteed seat to all games. Also, as an adult or senior citizen, you get voting rights within your full membership. There are certainly exciting matches in prospect all the way through the season.
The newly formed ECB 40-over league will see Hampshire Hawks visit for another Grace Road first - a Saturday night floodlit match. We also look forward to welcoming Scotland, Durham, Notts, Warwickshire and Kent too in that competition.
There is also the visit of the touring Pakistan side to look forward to. Former County players Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Asif are part of an extremely talented and vibrant team and the two-day tour game on July 8 and 9 is certainly a date for the diary.
Full membership also gives you admission to 32 days of Championship cricket. With Sussex and Worcestershire coming down to form what was already a highly-competitive division, it promises to be an intriguing season.
Hoggard was Yorkshire’s leading wicket-taker in Division One last season, and he will lead the side with enthusiasm, experience and quality. Leicestershire want to be extremely competitive across all three formats and we’d like you to be a part of the team too.
There are also opportunities to take out a Gold membership (one full adult ticket and one transferable membership) or a Corporate Membership. You can also become a Company Partner, which permits a company to have six transferable memberships.
