The Cricketers Pub.
Due to the inaccurate reports in the local media today the Club have issued the following statement to its members regarding the Cricketers pub.
The Club made the decision to change brewers in March after we were unable to agree a commercial deal for the ongoing pouring rights at Grace Road with Everards brewery.
The Club then sourced a new supplier Marston’s on a 3 year deal at more favourable terms than those offered by Everards.
Everards were aware without the pouring rights deal with the club the pub could no longer enjoy an unimpaired view of one day cricket from the pub balcony, they have been involved throughout our desire to seek a commercial deal with the cricketers pub to continue to enjoy that view, and in fact the Managing Director of Everards recommended to the current landlord that we agree a deal. The Landlord of the pub declined.
The cricket club needs ALL the financial help it can get and the Cricketers pub on one day match days is in direct competition with Leicestershire CCC for food and liquor sales.
Twice banner scaffolding has illegally been removed from the cricket ground, this has been filmed on CCTV cameras and it is now in the hands of the local police. The club at this stage have declined to pursue any criminal damage claims against those responsible.
The Club's relationship with Everards continues to be very good; however Leicestershire CCC will not allow the pub to continue to enjoy the benefit of an unrestricted view on an ongoing basis without reaching an agreement with the club.
