The Leicestershire Cricket Society would like to kindly remind all cricket fans that Graham Gooch MBE will speak at their next meeting on Thursday February 4.
The former Essex and England captain and opener will address the society in the Charles Palmer Suite on what will be an excellent and entertaining evening. The talk will start at 7.30pm.
Gooch was inducted into the ICC’s Hall of Fame this year and is England’s record run scorer in test match history. Since his retirement, he has launched a successful career in coaching.
Gooch has worked closely with a number of batsmen at Essex, and Alastair Cook and Ravi Bopara are two men to have benefited from his guidance and gone on to become test match players. New Leicestershire signing Will Jefferson also worked closely with Gooch when at Essex.
In his playing career, Gooch’s England best was a brilliant 333 against India, and he also scored a century in the second innings of that match. It made him the only person to score a triple hundred and a century in separate innings in a first-class game.
Gooch has had a tremendous career and the evening is expected to be a sell-out – so non-members are advised to get their tickets in advance.
Tickets are available for £5. For more details and to secure a ticket, please email: lcs@councilcricketsocieties.com
