Leicestershire Public Address announcer John Goodman gave his final address to Grace Road at the end of the second day's play against Gloucestershire.
John, who along with colleague Pete Saunders has given outstanding voluntary service to the Club, decided that 2010 would be his final season on the microphone.
As Pete is doing the final two days of the current LV=County Championship match, today was John's last match on the PA - and the team put in an outstanding performance to ensure he could sign off in style.
A thoroughly entertaining day's cricket was the perfect way for John to retire and he was presented with an inscribed boxed pen by Acting Chief Executive Mike Siddall at lunch on the Grace Road turf as a thank you for all of his hard work.
Mike said: "John has offered tremendous voluntary service to the Club and we are extremely thankful for all of his efforts over the years. John was incredibly reliable - if he said that he would be here, he would be here, and that was a great help to us all."
John thanked everybody for their support at Grace Road over his years of dedicated service and is now looking forward to life sitting by the sightscreen as an ordinary spectator!
John certainly deserves his break from the microphone after all of his hard work. Leicestershire CCC would like to wish John all the very best for the future.
