Ian Balfour, who was Chairman of the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board until ill health made it impossible for him to continue, sadly passed away on Sunday 20th May at his home in Oakham.

Leicestershire CCC have released the following statement this morning:
"Mr. B.G Groves, former Chairman and current Vice-President of the Club, has been suspended from Full Membership for one year by order of the Board from November 30th 2009. After due process, the Board found Mr. Groves to be in breach of Rule 5.5.1.
Rule 5.5.1 states:
‘The Board shall have power to reprimand, suspend for a period not exceeding 12 months or expel any member or Junior who infringes any Rule or Bye-Law or any ECB Rule or whose conduct or actions, whether at the Club’s premises or not, is, in the Board’s opinion, prejudicial to the interests of the Club or may bring the game of cricket or any cricketer or group of cricketers into disrepute or is abusive or discriminatory of any person on grounds of ethnic origin, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental abilities or gender or is otherwise such as to render that person, in the opinion of the Board, unfit to be a member or junior.’
