Leicestershire Second XI will travel to Fenner’s for t20 Finals Day on Friday after gaining a tie and a win from their last two matches against Middlesex at Uxbridge.
Middlesex had a strong squad throughout and included overseas star Chris Rogers and Anthony Ireland in the first match.
First XI captain Neil Dexter, t20 overseas player Ryan McLaren and Tim Murtagh played in the second game, but it could not stop the buoyant Foxes.
The first game was heavily rain-affected and had a thrilling finish. Middlesex were put in and made 148-6 with Nadeem Malik taking 3-32.
The D-L target was 70 off 9 overs following rain and the team posted 69-2 from seven to tie the game. Kadeer Ali made 29 and Tom New was 26 not out.
Leicestershire again inserted Middlesex in the second game, which was reduced to 13 overs per side. Kadeer took 4-13 to restrict Middlesex to 94-8 and Leicestershire required 99 to win after D-L recalculations.
Ned Eckersley made 43 not out as Lloyd Tennant's charges won the match by six wickets with five balls to spare.
It was a fifth win to go along with the tie in eight fixtures and that impressive record allowed the Second XI to book their place in Cambridge on Friday.
Everyone at the Club wishes the Seconds all the best for Finals Day.
