England Lions went 2-0 up in the five-match ODI series with Sri Lanka A after registering a 67-run win at Dambulla on Sunday.
Craig Kieswetter's unbeaten 112 allowed Lions to post 293-9. The Somerset keeper shared 48 with Jos Buttler (40 from 32 balls) and 100 with Samit Patel (43 off 44) while Nathan Buck (8) helped to add a useful 25 for the ninth wicket.
It left the hosts with another testing chase but Dimuth Karunaratne and Mahela Udawatte (40 from 29) gave Sri Lanka A a solid base by reaching 60 without loss in the mandatory powerplay.
The duo departed soon after with Buck trapping Udawatte lbw en route to picking up 2-35 from eight overs.
Left arm spinners Danny Briggs (3-31) and Patel (3-55) were the leading wicket-takers in the match as Sri Lanka A were dismissed for 226. Lions can clinch the series with victory at Kurunegala tomorrow.
