Leicestershire CCC all-rounder Rob Taylor has received his first Scotland call-up for the tour to South Africa next month.
Taylor is one of four uncapped players to be included in the squad, along with Sussex batsman Matt Machan and wicket-keepers David Murphy (Northants) and Richard Coughtrie (Gloucs).
The players are eligible for Scotland because the ICC has changed their qualification regulations. Now, cricketers with British passports and Scottish parentage can represent the country.
The squad will be captained by Preston Mommsen, who played some games for County last season.
Another man with Leicestershire connections is in the squad in Richie Berrington. The all-rounder played a game for the Seconds last season.
The team will play a variety of fixtures on the tour, including some under first-class conditions, 50-over and t20 games, mostly against Highveld Strikers and North-West Dragons.
Scotland will also take on Highveld Lions and IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders as they prepare for the Champions League, which is being held in South Africa this year.
It will be a busy few weeks for Taylor, who is currently preparing for a special journey with father Olly, brother Harry and friend Will Goodwin on Sunday.
They are cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) to fundraise for the charity Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS), who provided great support after they tragically lost wife and mother Fee in 2005.
All donations for SOBS LEJOG 2012 will be gratefully received and can be made by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/Oliver-Taylor3
