Michael Thornely has been rewarded for an excellent first season at Leicestershire CCC by being handed a new two year contract.
The 24-year-old had a stunning LV=CC debut at Glamorgan where he posted scores of 97 and 131 and he has gone on to score 465 runs in his first ten first-class innings, including a fine century at Essex.
Thornely also made a match-winning contribution of 86, including 30 off one over, at Netherlands in the CB40 competition.
Leicestershire Chief Executive Mike Siddall said: "We are delighted that Michael has signed a two year contract. He has settled in well at Grace Road and has already made an excellent contribution to the team."
Thornely has looked solid at the top of the Leicestershire order in four-day cricket but also has the ability to change tack and push the rate on in the one-day arena.
Thornely also offers a medium pace option and is good in the field, so he has really grasped his opportunity after joining the Club from Unicorns.
