Joe Burns is in the Queensland side in the Sheffield Shield final but the team have their work cut out against Tasmania.
Tasmania batted first in the five-day final knowing that a draw was enough to secure the title and they set their stall out accordingly in Hobart.
The hosts were 176-2 at stumps on day one as opener Jordan Silk, who went on to make 108 from 358 balls, ended unbeaten on 82.
Silk shared an opening stand worth 133 with Mark Cosgrove, who made an equally obstinate 58 from 217 deliveries.
Queensland hit back to reduce Tasmania to 259-7 but James Faulkner (46) and Luke Butterworth (86) shared a stand of 125 for the eighth wicket as Tasmania posted 419 in 173.4 overs.
In reply, Queensland are 185-7 after a third day that was affected by rain. Burns has been in tremendous form recently but fell for six this time around.

Warwickshire had a tremendous opening day as they posted a mammoth 370-3 in 97 overs of play.
Warwickshire lost Ian Westwood to Peter Trego (16-8-41-1) without a run on the board but Varun Chopra (163) and Will Porterfield (162) shared a fantastic 308-run partnership for the second wicket.
The duo fell to Simon Kerrigan and Chris Rushworth respectively before stumps with Laurie Evans (15*) and captain Jim Troughton (8*) the unbeaten batsmen.
