John Shaw

Leicestershire CCC is sad to learn of the news that BBC Radio Leicester cricket commentator John Shaw has passed away.

John was a kind, polite and extremely knowledgeable man who brought a smile to Grace Road every time he visited.

Messages have been flooding in to us with memories of John, including lots from Leicestershire coaches and players.

Ben Smith said: “It’s an extremely sad day now that John isn't with us. He was well liked and a pleasure to work with. His humour will be missed.”

Rob Taylor said: “Very sad to hear that John Shaw has passed away. He was passionate about cricket and one of the nicest and most approachable guys around.”

Niall O’Brien added: “I am very saddened by the news that John has passed away. This is a real sad day for cricket and the people of Leicestershire CCC.”

Our thoughts are with John’s family and friends at this difficult time.
