Leicestershire v Worcestershire – your LV=CC matchday guide

Leicestershire welcome Worcestershire as our penultimate LV=CC opponents at Grace Road in the 2013 season. The game gets underway on Wednesday, August 28 (11am start).


Ned Eckersley is our leading first-class run-scorer having amassed 972 at an average of just under 49. Matthew Boyce (620) and Shiv Thakor (618) are also past the 600-run mark.

Our leading first-class wicket-taker is Ollie Freckingham with 34 at an average of 38.26, while Jigar Naik claimed 26 at an average of 35.92 before being sidelined by a dislocated shoulder.

Alex Wyatt has picked up 22 victims at an average of 33.36 while Ben Raine’s impressive debut saw him take 4-98 as well as scoring 37 in the first innings.

Leicestershire Charity Cricket Match

There is also the fantastic charity day where a Leicester Tigers XI will take on a Matt Hampson/Lord’s Taverners team at Grace Road on Sunday, September 1.

The day starts at 10am with an under-10s Kwik Cricket competition with former Leicestershire CCC bowler and now BBC cricket correspondent Jonathan Agnew presenting the prizes.

Then comes the match between the stars. Raising money for the Matt Hampson Foundation and the Lord's Taverners, it promises to be a great day for the whole family. The T20 game will start at 2pm.

Our final opponents at Grace Road in the 2013 season are Hampshire in the LV=CC. The game starts on Tuesday, September 17 and will get underway at the earlier time of 10.30am.

Player Awards Evening

Leicestershire CCC will host their Annual Player Awards evening in the Charles Palmer Suite after the final day's play of the season against Hampshire on Friday, September 20.

Hosted by BBC Radio Leicester's Charles Dagnall, the event will include the ceremony and a fantastic four-course meal.

Lunches for members and supporters

Leicestershire CCC will be hosting a number of lunches for members and supporters this winter.

Umpire Nick Cook will be the first guest speaker on Friday, October 4, and the three course lunch will cost £12.95.

The full programme will be confirmed in due course, and there will be a Christmas lunch on Sunday, December 15 (£18.95).

How To Find Us

From the M1 Motorway

M69/M1 Junction 21, take the A5460 along Narborough Road for approximately one mile. At the traffic lights at the junction of the Premier Travel Inn, turn right into Braunstone Lane. After approximately one mile, at the T-junction with Aylestone Road, turn left.

* For satellite navigation please use the postcode LE2 8EH to gain access via the Curzon Road Entrance

For entry via Curzon Road, follow the directions to Aylestone Road as above, but after 3/4 of a mile turn right on to Duncan Road followed by first left onto Curzon Road. The ground entrance is directly in front of you.

From the City Centre and the Railway Station

Take the A594 (Waterloo Way/Welford Road) heading south. Pass Leicester Tigers Rugby Club on your right and follow signs for A426 towards Rugby. Join Aylestone Road and pass car dealership on the left. After one mile, turn left into Duncan Road, followed by first left into Curzon Road. The ground entrance is directly in front of you.

Car parking

There is a car park at the Curzon Road entrance £5 for non-members. Please consider local residents before parking on the streets surrounding the ground.


There is no vehicle access to the ground from Grace Road itself - there is a pedestrian walkway at the side of the Cricketers Pub in order to access the turnstiles at the Park Hill Drive entrance. There are turnstiles at the main entrance off Curzon Road and on the Milligan Road side of the ground.

Travelling by bus

Bus services run from St Margarets Bus Station in the City Centre

  • Service 47,48 - Saffron Lane (every 15 mins weekdays, 20 mins Saturdays & 30 mins Sundays)

  • Service 84,84A - Aylestone Road (every 10 mins weekdays/Saturdays & 30 mins Sundays) drops off at various points close to Grace Road

  • Service 85 - Aylestone Road (every 10 mins weekdays/Saturdays & 30 mins Sundays) drops off at various points close to Grace Road

Bus services run from Charles Street in the City Centre
