The game between Leicestershire Second XI and MCC Young Cricketers ended as a no result at Grace Road today.
MCC YC moved to 55-1 before the first rain delay came after 13 overs, Matthew Hoggard taking the wicket of Graham Clark (21) on his comeback with Ollie Freckingham claiming the catch at mid-off.
An early lunch was taken and the game was then reduced to 34 overs per side. The visitors extended their total to 101-3 in the eight overs that followed before more heavy precipitation meant that umpires Billy Taylor and Ian Armitage were forced to call the game off.
Opener Chris Piesley top-scored with an unbeaten 56 for MCC YC, while captain Josh Cobb trapped Shane Getkate lbw for 6 and Charlie Walker was run out by a Rob Sayer direct hit after scoring 12.
Bowling figures returned by County were: Hoggard 5-2-10-1, Alex Wyatt 4-0-24-0, Sayer 5-0-29-0, Freckingham 2-0-9-0, Cobb 4-0-24-1, Ben Raine 1-0-2-0.
The teams now meet in the Championship starting tomorrow at 11am at Leicester Ivanhoe CC.
