Players report back

Leicestershire CCC players reported back for the first day of 2013 pre-season proper today.

The players have been in over the winter to work on their cricket skills, fitness, and strength and conditioning but with the season starting three weeks on Wednesday, preparation has now started in earnest.

Almost all of the 20-man squad were back at Grace Road today, with Rob Taylor linking up with his teammates tomorrow after being on Scotland duty.

Niall O’Brien is away representing Ireland in Sharjah while overseas star Ronnie Sarwan and spinner Claude Henderson will link up with the squad soon.

Head Coach Phil Whitticase spoke to the players before they faced some fitness testing in the Mike Turner Cricket Centre in the morning. There was a counter-movement jump challenge (Ned Eckersley, pictured right) as well as a speed and agility test.

Chief Executive Mike Siddall talked to the players in the afternoon and it was then off to Loughborough University for an isometric pull strength test and training session.
