Sky Sports Coaching Awards 2013

The Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board Coaches Association are working with the ECB and Sky Sports once again and are looking for new nominations for the 2013 Sky Sports Awards. The awards were launched in 2007 and are a great way of saying thank you to people who have made a significant contribution to the support and development of coaches and coaching in cricket.

Leicestershire Nominees once shortlisted will be invited to a Test Match or ODI in 2013 along with other nominees from around the Country. Recipients are presented with certificates from the likes of Sir Ian Botham, Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, David Lloyd and Michael Holding on the pitch during the interval.

Shortlisted nominees will then be invited to the annual Sky Sports Coach of the Year Awards Dinner. The Awards Dinner is normally held at Lords in October and will recognise the overall National Winner for the 3 Categories – Coach of the Year, Outstanding Contribution and Young Coach of the Year.

The three winners are presented with their awards by an England cricketer at a special presentation dinner held at Lord’s.

ECB Chief Executive David Collier said: “These awards are an excellent way of recognising and rewarding the very significant contributions coaches make to the development of our non-First Class game. We thank Sky Sports for their continued support and send congratulations to all our winners.”

Sky Sports commentator and former England captain, Nasser Hussain said: “This is a fantastic programme that is proving how important coaching is to the game of cricket. Everyone at Sky Sports is immensely proud of our involvement and we congratulate all the winners from the Sky Sports Coach Awards.”

Please find the nomination forms below for the three Categories for 2013 which should be completed and returned via email or post by Wednesday 6th February 2013 at the latest. Once you have submitted your nominations you need do nothing further as the nominee will be contacted by ECB Coach Education Offices.

There are 3 award categories:

Category 1- Outstanding Contribution is awarded to a person who has been at the heart of things seemingly forever. They have probably played every role there is to play and without them cricket coaching in your club, in your league, your county or at your school just wouldn’t be the same or just wouldn’t happen at all.

This category may include a person who has provided administrative support and who has significantly aided the development of coaching communication channels locally. Alternatively it may include someone who has helped the development and growth of coaches and Coaches Association’s locally or who has used innovation and inspiration to significantly increase the amount of coaching activity and player participation locally.

Category 2– Coach of the Year - There are thousands of qualified coaches in clubs and schools up and down the country. Who goes that extra mile? Who makes a difference to you or your players, club or school? Who’s your coaching hero?

This category may include a person who has significantly encouraged the development and success of players and teams. They may have been the driving force behind the design, production and implementation of coaching programmes or have used innovation and inspirational coaching methods which have significantly improved player and team performances at all levels of ability and gender.

Category 3 – Young Coach of the Year - Do you know someone who’s already making a difference? Who’s already passing on their enthusiasm for the game and inspiring the next generation of players? We are looking for young coaches who are 25 or under who you would like to say thank you to.

This category may include a person that has shown a commitment to developing the game at grassroots and community level has had a clear impact with a local school or club or shown creativity and determination in their development as a coach.
