Shiv Thakor was in the runs and wickets on his first day as captain of the England under 19s side on the tour of South Africa.
The team are currently playing a two-day game against a Western Cape Invitation XI in Cape Town and made 132-7d from 60 overs in their first innings.
Thakor was second top-scorer with 30 from 71 balls, including five fours. Harry Finch retired after making a half-century.
Thakor then claimed 2-11 from three overs as Western Cape Invitation XI were bowled out for 117 in just 36.1 overs shortly before the close. Miles Hammond was leading wicket-taker with 3-26.
