Yorkshire posted 358-3 in reply to Leicestershire's 336 on the second day of the Second XI Championship game at Market Harborough CC.
Resuming from their overnight 10-0, Alex Wyatt dismissed Joe Sayers for 13 (31 balls), caught behind by keeper Steve Bullen, to give County a promising start.
But a second wicket partnership of 176 between Jon Tattersall and Dan Hodgson put Yorkshire firmly in control. That alliance was broken when spinner Harry Bush bowled Hodgson for 93 (13x4, 169b).
Tattersall (84, 9x4, 187 balls) soon followed caught by Michael Thornley at slip, again off the bowling of Bush, but a new stand formed between Jack Leaning and skipper Will Rhode.
The duo took the score from 199-3 to 358-3 at the close with Leaning 66 not out (8x4, 128 balls) and Rhodes on 82 (12x4, 140b).
County used nine bowlers and stuck manfully to the task under a blazing sun. Bowling figures returned were: Ireland 18-4-50-0, Wyatt 19-3-58-1, Taylor 12-2-50-0, Sykes 31-6-90-0, Bush 7-0-32-2, Cobb 8-2-20-0, Raine 6-2-17-0, Wells 6-0-24-0, Thornely 2-0-6-0.
Yorkshire closed with a lead of 22 going into Day 3. Leicestershire have taken 5 points and Yorkshire 8 points so far.
