Leicestershire CCC is pleased to announce the signing of batsman Dan Redfern ahead of the 2014 campaign.
Redfern, 23, has signed a two-year contract at Grace Road and joins the Leicestershire staff alongside Charlie Shreck, Ben Raine and Rob Sayer. With Ramnaresh Sarwan also coming back to Grace Road as our overseas player, the squad is taking shape nicely for the new season.
The talented left-hander, who has represented England under 19s, registered a first-class career best score of 133 against Hampshire in Derbyshire’s promotion season of 2012.
During that successful year, Redfern scored 848 first-class runs at an average of 38.48, and has scored 3,213 first-class runs in his career to date.
Redfern also played in 43 List A matches and 14 t20 games while at the County Ground, and his off-break bowling and dynamic fielding mean he offers the Club plenty of options. He said: “I am grateful to Phil Whitticase and his staff for this opportunity and look forward to the challenge ahead.”
Leicestershire CCC Director of Cricket Phil Whitticase said: “We are really pleased to welcome Dan to Grace Road, he will be a great addition for us. Dan is a quality young top-order batsman, he is excellent in the field and also bowls good off-spin, so we are delighted to have him on board.”
