Leicestershire Public Address announcer John Goodman gave his final address to Grace Road at the end of the second day's play against Gloucestershire.
Spectators at this Sunday's NatWest Pro40 match between Leicestershire Foxes and Glamorgan Dragons will have the chance to celebrate England’s Ashes victory when the replica urn comes to Grace Road.
The tour is part of the England and Wales Cricket Board’s ‘The Great Exhibition’ campaign, which aims to inspire participation in cricket.
Visiting ten counties throughout September, the MCC Ashes Trophy and Replica Ashes Urn visiting the grounds gives fans the opportunity to get up close and see the official replica urn that Andrew Strauss held aloft at the Brit Oval with the triumphant England team at the end of the npower Ashes Series.
Also included in the exhibition is the Waterford Crystal trophy, commissioned by MCC and first presented to Mark Taylor, the Australian Ashes-winning captain in 1999.
Fans will also have the chance to find out the history of the urn from the archivist and historian of the MCC Museum, as well as watch the exciting highlights from the npower Ashes Series and hear the exclusive thoughts of the team on their victory.
The Twelfth Man Van, which will also form part of the tour, will offer fans the opportunity to win exciting prizes, including tickets to watch England play in 2010.
ECB Chief Executive David Collier said: “The Ashes were a tremendous result for England that we hope can inspire the nation to get involved in cricket. We hope the replica urn tour gives communities up and down the country the chance to celebrate the Ashes victory and experience exciting county cricket.”
A Leicestershire spokesman said: "We would like to congratulate Andy Flower, Andrew Strauss, Stuart Broad and the whole England team on their Ashes success and we are delighted to have the replica Ashes Urn here at Grace Road on Sunday.
"We hope as many people as possible can come to the ground, see the Urn and cheer the team on in the game against Glamorgan."
Fans are reminded that with the match being played in September, the match begins an hour earlier than normal at 12.45pm.
