No play at Grace Road on first day
No play was possible on the first day of the Championship game against Kent at Grace Road.
Heavy overnight rain, coupled with persistent drizzle, meant umpies Nigel Cowley and Richard Kettleborough had little choice but to abandon the day at 2pm.
It was a shame to have no action, especially after no first-class fixture for four weeks given the FPT and Twenty20 games.
The second day's play is scheduled to start tomorrow at 11am.
