Naik became the first Leicester-born Asian to represent the county. The off-spinner gets the ball to bounce and turn off the pitch and will learn under the watchful eye of new spin coach Claude Henderson. Naik progressed from Everards club sides Kibworth and Billesdon to Leicestershire 2nds and already represented first team. He has also played for the second eleven and Loughborough University. Naik performed well in limited overs cricket in 2008 but the form of Claude Henderson meant he was unable to force his way into the first eleven in Championship cricket.
