Pope is a young wicket-keeper batsman previously on the MCC Young Cricketers' books. He signed a two-year professional contract with Leicestershire at the end of the 2007 season and made his one-day debut in the Pro40 win against Derbyshire last season. Pope is the nephew of Middlesex wicket-keeper Ben Scott, and wintered in Perth in 2007-08 to continue his development playing grade cricket for Melville CC. Once fielded for England as thirteenth man against the West Indies, but it is his wicket-keeping which has earned him rave reviews in his career to date. Signed a new two-year deal with the club at the end of 2008 to see him through to the end of the 2010 season.
