Note on car parking
Leicestershire CCC would like to clarify the position on car parking for Specsavers County Championship games at the Fischer County Ground.
Due to high demand, an option ahead of the 2017 was introduced whereby Members could guarantee a parking space for Specsavers County Championship for the season by paying £50 for a parking pass. Anybody who has brought the Specsavers County Championship parking pass will have a space automatically reserved for all Specsavers County Championship fixtures.
The club also stated that a number of spaces would be kept available to purchase for £5 in advance of a fixture. This is to allow people who wish to attend the occasional day of cricket at the Fischer County ground (Members/supporters from both Leicestershire CCC and visiting counties), the opportunity to reserve a space.
Leicestershire CCC announced that Members who did not sign up to the £50 ticket for Specsavers County Championship games or pay £5 in advance of a particular matchday, would be able to park on the ground free of charge, as in previous years, if there were spaces available. However, it was stated that purchasing the season pass ‘is the only way to guarantee on-site parking for County Championship games.’
Following the Nottinghamshire game, the club had a number of enquiries from Members who noticed that there spaces in the Bennett End car park at various points during the game but that they had been unable to park their car.
The reason for this is that a number of spaces are reserved in the Bennett End and therefore have to be kept free for the duration of the game. These reserved spaces are for Members who have brought the Specsavers County Championship season pass, people who have paid £5 for a space in advance of a game, and other guests who have reserved parking spaces, such as members of the media and visiting officials.
Following the first game against Notts, the club does not now anticipate any car parking spaces to be available to Members without paid reserved spaces on the first day of the match, such was the popularity of the new system. There may be some free spaces during the match but that will be a limited number of spaces and will be subject to availability.
Please note that if a car parking space has been paid for in advance, then it will be reserved for the duration of its validity – i.e. all four days for a season pass or for one day if it is a £5 day pass.
There were 100 Specsavers County Championship £50 season passes initially available but they have now sold out. Spaces for individual games can still be booked in advance for £5, subject to availability. To enquire about availability for the Glamorgan game, please call 0116 283 2128
