Foxes and Kent suffer washout
Leicestershire versus Kent, Specsavers County Championship, Day 1:
SCORECARD | Available through ESPN Cricinfo HERE
REPORT | There was no play on the first day of the Specsavers County Championship game between Leicestershire and Kent at the Fischer County Ground.
Heavy overnight rain left the outfield sodden and there was more during the day. Match umpires with the surname Evans - Jeff and Russell - conducted regular inspections and, following a period without precipitation, it was announced that play would get underway at 5pm with the floodlights on providing there was no further rain.
However, another heavy shower arrived just as the players were about to head to the middle, and it meant that the umpires were forced to abandon the day.
Given the heavy cloud cover and the fact that the square had been under cover all day, Sam Northeast unsurprisingly opted not to have a coin toss when the captains made their way to the middle at 4.30pm, so the visitors will be in the field when the game gets underway.
The Foxes showed six changes to the side that last played in the Specsavers County Championship game against Glamorgan, including handing a Leicestershire first-class debut to Callum Parkinson.
Mark Cosgrove, Colin Ackermann, Tom Wells, Dieter Klein and Gavin Griffiths also came into the XI for Neil Dexter, Cameron Delport, Lewis Hill, Ben Raine, Zak Chappell and Charlie Shreck.
Kent made one adjustment with Matt Hunn coming for Wayne Parnell after his overseas spell came to an end.
TEAM | Horton, Dearden, Ackermann, Cosgrove (capt), Eckersley (wk), Pettini, Wells, Parkinson, McKay, Klein, Griffiths.
