SEC game v MCC Young Cricketers called off

Leicestershire CCC has announced that next week's Second XI Championship game against MCC Young Cricketers has been called off due to waterlogging.

The recent weather has made the potential for cricket across Leicestershire and Rutland particularly challenging. Indeed, the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket League has decided to delay the start of the season by a week until Saturday, April 28.

Kibworth CC, who was due to host the three-day fixture on Monday, April 16, has suffered with large amounts of rain and the ground remains saturated despite the club's very best efforts to get the game on. The match will be a no result with each team picking up five points.

Leicestershire Second XI is now due to get their season underway with white ball and red ball friendlies at Durham later this month. A 50-over game is scheduled for Brandon CC on Tuesday, April 24 and a three-day fixture is due to be played at Emirates Riverside on Wednesday, April 25.

* The first Leicestershire Second XI home fixture will now be a 50-over Trophy game against Northamptonshire at the Fischer County Ground on Wednesday, May 2. Admission will be free for the match.
